GM Mark of Excellence Program Winner!

An open letter congratulating Walt Massey Automotive for our achievement in the GM Mark of Excellence program. Our team won for all three divisions: Chevrolet, GMC and Buick. Thanks to our entire staff for their efforts!

March 31, 2011

James Massey
WALT MASSEY AUTOMOTIVE INC
11241 OLD 63 SOUTH
LUCEDALE, MS 39452

Dear James,
I wanted to recognize and thank you for your performance in the 2010 Mark of
Excellence program. You placed among some of the highest performing Dealers in the
country last year. This means you met or exceeded your 2010 Divisional sales, CSI, RSI
and EBE objectives. And in a down market, that was quite an accomplishment.
As you know, I have a term for this kind of performance. I call it "Doing the Basics
Brilliantly". And if we can get this kind of dedication and excellence across our entire
Dealer network, I'm confident we will return to sales leadership and our role as America's
Brand, But it will require Dealers such as you to help lead the effort.
To showcase your accomplishment, you will receive the distinctive Dealer Recognition
Reward Plaque and a personalized set of 500 GM Mark of Excellence business cards.
In a highly competitive marketplace, your professionalism and excellence are truly
valued. Thanks again for all you do for Chevrolet. And I wish you continued success in
2011.
Congratulations!

Sincerely,
Alan Batey

Buick Regal Named NADAguides’ 2011 Car of the Year

Recognized for Performance, Styling, Fuel Efficiency, Price Point and Cost of Ownership

LOS ANGELES – The 2011 Buick Regal won the Car of the Year Award from NADAguides, a leading provider of vehicle pricing and information, at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on Wednesday.

The Buick Regal beat 10 other contenders based upon a combination of factors, including performance, styling, design, fuel economy, safety features, cost of ownership and price point.

“The Buick Regal has had a revolutionizing effect on Buick,” said Troy Snyder, director of product development for NADAguides. “The brand is definitely on the right road and it’s clear that the Regal is just the beginning of Buick great vehicles to come.”

In September, when NADAguides honored Regal with its Car of the Month Award, the publication praised the sedan’s fuel-efficient 182 HP direct-injection 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine and Four-Link Independent Rear Suspension for providing a smooth ride “fit for a king.”

NADAguides also noted Regal’s use of Bluetooth® connectivity, OnStar, USB port for MP3 devices, and voice-activated navigation as clear indications that “Buick knows all about modern advanced technology.”

"The NADAguides Car of the Year award confirms the growing momentum building around Buick," said John Schwegman, U.S. vice president of Buick & GMC Marketing. "The Regal delivers a dynamic driving experience that competes with the best import sport sedans in the mid-size sport car segment. Moreover, this smart, sleek, top-safety-rated car is helping to attract new customers to the Buick brand.”

Based in part on customer demand for the new Regal, Buick’s retail sales have grown 50 percent in 2010 as of October, with 39 percent of Regal customers coming out of a non-General Motors’ make.

Regal also is a semifinalist for the 2011 North American Car of the Year awards, as voted by a jury of 50 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. The sporty sedan has award-winning DNA, being based on the Opel Insignia – recipient of 31 prestigious awards, including the 2009 European Car of the Year.

More Good News For The Buick Regal

MUS News and World Report - Regal ties for #1 ranking with BMW 3-Series Good news. In its ranking of Midsize luxury sedans US News and World Report ranks Regal as tied for #1 with the BMW 3-Series!

Buick Regal - What the Auto Press Says

The 2011 Buick Regal ranks 1 out of 19 Upscale Midsize Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 27 published reviews and test drives of the Buick Regal, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

The 2011 Buick Regal offers midsize sedan buyers a sporty option that can compete with some upscale models.

Buick has been undergoing a renaissance lately, with the redesigned LaCrosse bowing to almost-unequivocal reviewer praise last year. Now, the 2011 Buick Regal is hitting the market, and while it competes for near-luxury buyers with the LaCrosse, reviewers say it's aiming for a very different segment of that market: drivers who like a little sport in their sedans.

While the LaCrosse appeals to buyers who want a quiet touring car, Autoblog says, "For the first time in its history, the Regal is truly worthy of being called a sports sedan." Not only that, Autoblog, like other reviewers, argues that the Regal can compete with upscale midsize sport sedans like the Acura TSX and Audi A4.

While most critics assert that the Regal lives up to its sporting pretensions, others question if the Buick brand, which is historically known for sedans that handle like yachts and are popular with the early-bird special crowd, is strong enough to pull buyers over from imports. Still, reviewers say that even though the Buick brand may not be strong enough to pull buyers in, overlooking the Regal would be a mistake.

Among midsize cars, the Regal shines with performance that balances fuel economy and power, handling and ride comfort. Reviewers are impressed with the handsome exterior and comfortable interior. All in all, if you're shopping midsize sedans, reviewers say that the Regal should be on your short list.

If you're shopping for premium feel, reviewers almost dare you to put the Regal against cars like the Acura TSX, Lexus ES and Audi A4. All three are more expensive and have more cachet than the Regal -- however, many reviewers say the Regal can take them all on. That means that if you’re willing to sacrifice brand recognition you can get a better car at a lower price by opting for the Regal.

Details: Buick Regal

The Buick Regal is an all-new model for 2011. For its initial rollout, the Regal is available only in its top-of-the-line CXL trim; next year the base CX and middle CXS trims will be available. The Regal enters the market with a 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine, but a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder will be available in late summer 2010. A performance tuned GS model will be available next year. The Regal is based on the Opel Insignia (which is available only in Europe) and shares some components with the well-liked Buick LaCrosse. However, the Regal is smaller and sportier than the LaCrosse.

"What it is, it turns out, is a very well tuned, near-luxury sport sedan

that, in terms of sheer driving pleasure, surpasses anything else in its

class made in Detroit these days, not to mention imports like the Acura

TSX and the Lexus ES350."--Automobile Magazine

"Put another way: If you like your old Buick, this ain't it. But if you

like the kind of work Acura has done with the TSX, the all-new Regal

will be a pleasant surprise."--AutoWeek

"Like the Buick LaCrosse, the Regal is far removed from the floaty-boat

reputation that has cursed the brand, along with an aging demographic

that Buick is desperate to change. The Regal now looks and performs in a

class-competitive manner. "--Car and Driver

"The $26,995 Regal CSX is sleek, stylish and comprehensively equipped,

with suavely European road manners. The $29,495 Regal Turbo is a

wonderfully subversive sport sedan whose punchy, 220-hp blown Ecotec

four and supple, yet buttoned-down, chassis puts Acura's homely TSX on

notice, and seriously makes you wonder whether an Audi A4 is really

worth the money."--Motor Trend

"Buick hopes customers looking at an Acura TSX, Lexus IS or an Infiniti

G37 will consider the Regal. I think that's optimistic but not out of

the question, though it will take a while."--Chicago Tribune

"The Regal is a good-looking, excellent-handling midsize sedan that

packs a lot of content for its price, with just a few drawbacks."--

Cars.com

"So let's see what we have here; A gorgeous, fun-to-drive, quick,

comfortable, well-equipped American sedan built with the quality of its

German competitors... and it's a Buick. Who knew?"--Jalopnik

"On paper, the Regal Turbo’s just-under $30k price point puts it in

competition with the base, four-cylinder TSX while offering power closer

to the $35k TSX V6. "--The Truth About Cars

Buick Named Top Popular Brand in AutoPacific’s 2010 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards

Detroit – Buick was recognized as the top-rated popular brand in AutoPacific’s 2010 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards announced Thursday. The Vehicle Satisfaction Awards are unique because they are based on owner’s overall satisfaction with their vehicle.

"We are excited to be named the top popular brand in AutoPacific’s 2010 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards,” said Roger McCormack, director of marketing for Buick. “This recognition is important to us because it is based on our owner’s satisfaction with their vehicles, and this award is proof that our efforts to continuously improve our vehicles are paying off.”

The LaCrosse was the second-highest ranked vehicle by owners in the premium mid-size car segment, and the Enclave and Lucerne ranked in the top five vehicles in the luxury crossover SUV and large car segments.

The 2010 Vehicle Satisfactions Awards are determined by more than 42,000 surveys that are completed by owners of new cars and light trucks in the United States in the first quarter of 2010. As an industry benchmark, the study measures overall satisfaction an owner has with their vehicle. AutoPacific is a Southern California-based market research firm.

Buick is currently in the midst of a modern brand transformation that is defined by Buick’s brand characteristics including sculpted designs, luxurious interiors, quality, premium technology and refined performance. The LaCrosse is continuing the momentum started by the Enclave and the Regal sports sedan is poised to extend the Buick line-up. Buick has experienced seven consecutive months of year-over-year sales increases.
